Echoes of Emotion

This installation invites visitors to pause, reflect, and begin identifying the emotional nuances that shape their daily lives. Building on the foundation of Plutchik’s Wheel of Emotions, this work shifts the focus from general emotional categories to the subtleties that lie within and between them. Across the wall are emotion-related words, each mounted with a pin. Visitors choose a colored string that corresponds to their emotional state and connect it between a nuanced word and its broader category. Over time, these connections form a collaborative web, making the complexity of collective emotion visible.

Emotional awareness begins with naming what we feel. The intention behind this work is to encourage people to slow down and search for words that resonate with their current state of mind. This process of mapping feelings transforms inner experience into visible form. As more connections are made, a collective emotional web grows, revealing shared emotional landscapes. Research shows that those who can identify emotions with precision are better equipped to regulate them, respond thoughtfully in relationships, and empathize with others. By combining design, interaction, and emotional theory, I aim to transform personal reflection into a collective experience, reminding us that though our feelings may differ, we are never truly alone in them.
